Inference

For maths we used a strategy called Inference and this strategy is great to use and it's good for reading as well but the inference strategy is something where you use you old knowledge and you new knowledge altogether. Example: Jerry has 27 drawings and gave 3 each to his 8 friends. how many did his friend get. 27, 3, 8 27 isn't important so we got 3 and 8. 3 x 8 = 24.

Hiwi the kiwi

Did you know that people are letting the fish and the seagulls down by polluting the ocean with plastic. It’s bad for their health and they are all dying because of the pollution in the ocean. At Hiwi the Kiwi show we learned lots of lessons of fishing safety, plastic polluted oceans and other things but I chose 3 lessons I liked

Hiwi the kiwi taught us lessons about the kai moana (food from the sea) and we sang songs together. The three lessons I learned was when you catch the big or small fish you put them back into the ocean because if you catch small fish they have no chance to become bigger, and if you catch a big fish they don't get a chance to breed to make babies to make more fish

The second lesson I learned was to never throw plastic or the seagulls and other birds will mistake it for food. Some of the people checked in the seagull and saw plastic in it. This tells us we have to stop throwing our rubbish away because seagulls might mistake it for food.

The third lesson I learned was to use a wet towel when you catch a fish because if you don't you are peeling off the scales. Their scales are like sunscreen to us and  if you peel the scales they will die, a bit like if you rub sunscreen off of you get sunburnt so always use a wet towel to pick up your fish or else there will be no more fish to eat.

Ballet

For kiwi sport we learned ballet since Steve (our gymnastics teacher) wasn't there. We learned a lot of   cool ballet skills and we even did a performance to show our skills in our learning. We also learned how to do the Black swan white swan which is a famous ballet show that is still going on. The music we had on was written by Tchaikovsky which was a classical type of music. Thank you Chole for teaching us.

Waltzing Matilda

Today we learned about the poem Waltzing Matilda and make a summary about it and what the main idea followed by the three details about what the story is and what it's about. It was about a seasonal worker who stole sheep and rather than him going to jail he escaped.

Self Evalution

How to take care of our environment

On earth we have lots of food sources and have a great environment … OR DO WE
HAVE A GOOD ENVIRONMENT??. We sometimes throw rubbish on the ground
and some of it goes in the ocean but now we have reusable plastic bags.
Instead of single-use(plastic bags). Plastic bags we have reusable plastic bags to keep our
stuff in it instead of throwing it away SO DON’T THROW IT AWAY.

We are harming the environment but throwing our rubbish everywhere. We have to
convince the people to throw the rubbish in the landfill not in the ocean. Did you know
over 150 million single use plastic bags get thrown in the landfill and over 380 million
plastic bags end up in the ocean each year”
The landfill is a place where plastic bags or other rubbish so we don’t pollute in our
environment because our environment is special to us. We have to take care of our
environment so we don’t harm the animals that live in the sea. Sometimes we pollute and
sometimes we don’t that doesn’t mean we should keep polluting I think we should pick
up all the rubbish around NZ to stop harming the sea animals in the ocean.

Lots of good punctuation, have good ideas and have organized paragraphs but have some mistakes in my work.

For Writing we made a copy of our writing essay and make it our writing evalution. Then we got into buddy's and check on what we had to work on, I just have to work on how to not make mistakes and check if my writing makes sense about what the topic is. When we got into buddys we both check our work and see what level we were on. I am an R5 on Punctuation, R4 on Vocab, R5 on organization, R5 on sentence structure, R3 on Structure and language and R5 on ideas that I make up and means that i'm creative.

Math Vocabulary

Today my group (Me, Giovanni and Jonathan) and I worked on this Maths vocabulary
activity.
It was made by Whaea Donna to help kids understand what some maths words meant.
Mrs Anderson asked us what a plane is. Everyone thought it was a flying vehicle but
because she was talking about the flat surface plane, all of us were wrong. This was a
really good way to show us that words might mean something different in maths. If we
didn't know a word. I would go on the explore tool to find out the meaning. Giovanni
would drag the ones into the box and the ones that Me and Jonathan didn't know into the
bottom section. Jonathan was helping Giovanni by dragging the words that go in the top
section. After we finished it all of us had a good understanding of most of the maths
words. Giovanni, Jonathan and I worked collaborativly together as a group to complete
this activity.

3D Shape

In Tech we learned about 3D shapes, Size and shadings. The most we learned is that a 3D shape is more fatter that a 2D shape and a 2D shape is more flatter than a 3D shape and the colour shadings on a 3D cube the top shade lightly in the front draw a little harder and the side do it your hardest but dont break your pencil.

Mrs Andeson challenged us to make a DLO on our google docs without opening another tab to find images or links to other sites. It was hard but me and my partner got it done

Place Value Partitioning

This DLO show how I used the stratigy of place value partitioning to solve addition problems. During our maths lessons we practiced using this strategy with number and word question. When I was answering the word questions I had to look for the maths so I knew what numbers to work with. My screencastify shows the strategy I used. The more I used this strategy the more the easier it got.
