The Adding Addicts Weighty Challenge

L.I: To figure out the weight of the tomato sauce and white sauce.

 

Today my group, The Adding Addicts have made a DLO on weight. It was a challenge on to find the average serving on the giant lasagne and to fine how much tomato sauce and white sauce they put in the largest lasagne. We worked collaboratively to figure out both answers to the question.

Division

Today for maths we learned long division. Long division is a type of division but with a little atchments added onto it. This type of division is efficient for me and my group. We learned that when we use a strategy we use the most efficient way.

On Tuesday LS2 made groups of 3. When I found my group we started on the DLO. First we used our skills to find the main info we needed and thats all we needed to get this done because we had our strategy after we found the main info.

I used statistical information on my blog to help me set goalsfor 2020. Before I can publish a blog post I need to complete the task. I worked the average numberof posts I made for each month and used this data to set a realistic and achiveable blogging goal.

Using Exponents

L.I. to understand Exponents.


This week for maths we made a DLO about an equation about how many heads a hydra has after each day. First we had to figure out the maths rule and that was (the amount of heads) muliplied by 2. Then we kept multipling the amount of heads untill we got to the 3rd and 10th day and our awnsers were: 3rd day = 8 heads & 10th day = 1024 heads.

Thinking Teams


Today in maths we worked in our thinking teams to find the awnser to two math questions. In the photo you will see our group, The Wizardly Addiction working out the number value of our group name. To do this we use addiction stratigies and our place value knowledge. In the second activity we worked as a group to put the population numbers in order. To do this we used our place value knowledge.

Math Vocabulary





Today my group (Me, Giovanni and Jonathan) and I worked on this Maths vocabulary
activity.
It was made by Whaea Donna to help kids understand what some maths words meant.
Mrs Anderson asked us what a plane is. Everyone thought it was a flying vehicle but
because she was talking about the flat surface plane, all of us were wrong. This was a
really good way to show us that words might mean something different in maths. If we
didn't know a word. I would go on the explore tool to find out the meaning. Giovanni
would drag the ones into the box and the ones that Me and Jonathan didn't know into the
bottom section. Jonathan was helping Giovanni by dragging the words that go in the top
section. After we finished it all of us had a good understanding of most of the maths
words. Giovanni, Jonathan and I worked collaborativly together as a group to complete
this activity.

Place Value Partitioning

 

This DLO show how I used the stratigy of place value partitioning to solve addition problems. During our maths lessons we practiced using this strategy with number and word question. When I was answering the word questions I had to look for the maths so I knew what numbers to work with. My screencastify shows the strategy I used. The more I used this strategy the more the easier it got.

For maths we had to make a copy of place value document. First we had to write the number in the box the make the number in a abacus and then we had to write the 100000, 10000, 1000, 100, 10, 1 in side other boxes and it said how much ??? is in the number then i had to write the number in the box

Basic facts

Today for Maths we had to do a Addition and subtraction box whether that im good at my maths or not and when I did it I had to do it in 20 seconds so I can tell how fast I am at my maths so I can get better at it and then I will get Smarter and Smarter at my maths.

Flip grid response

for maths we had to do a flip grid response on how to measure how much volume a shape can take up in water so the two shapes that I chose was a triangular prism and a triangular pyramid  i had to put it underwater and get my two whiteboard markers and under line the heights and the triangular pyramid was higher than the triangular prism.

On Monday Mr Wong's maths groups had to do a flip grid response about how many water(Capacity) that a container can hold. a conical flask holds 172 millilitres. a pie dish holds 170 millilitres and the beaker holds 180 millilitres

Question / Answer

Hi Hosea and Lukah.

I really liked your questions that you made

The first answer for the question was: 12 because I counted in 3's.
The second answer for the question was: 110 because I added the 1 to the 9 to the 20.
The third answer was: 1/8th because I had the fraction and took away 1/2 then a 1/4 then it came up with a 1/8.
The last question was 77 because I had the 111 and then took away 34 then it ended up with 77.
