Kiwi Can

For Kiwi Can we had an energiser called up and down. The energiser was about fliping cone either up or down and our team was good at it. I was the best at it I gave our team lots of points and the energiser was really fun that the last person on our team had to chose the player she wanted. After that Mr seamanu picked someone to come up with him and tell the story with him. After the story he told us we had to cheer karlos up with positive communication and if he has his head up he's happy (+1 Point) and if he still has his head down we lose a pint (-1 Point) and the other team won. Our activity was called street fighter we had 5 instructions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. 1 was to punch once, 2 was double punch, 3 kick, 4 was upper cut and number 5 was HADOUKEN. The game was simple there were 2 teams the Karate Kids and the Ninja Clan, I was in the ninja clan and was nearly good as my apponent but my apponent beat me to it and then our team won.

Tech

For tech today giovanni has created his first image on wood. It was really fun because the other got to make their final design for their work but we had to wait because some of our images weren't ok so we found some other images to fix our final designs. Mine was headphones because it represents the music that I have inside of me.

Kiwi Can

Today for kiwi can we learned about giving things a go. We learned about what we were not giving a go and actually gave it a go like when I was 5 I was scared of riding a bike but then when I got over my fear I gave it a go. Other people told their fears and giving it a go. We played an energizer all about our thinking and played an activity to see who did what the instuctor did best.

Tech Reflection

Today for Tech we had our lessons with Mr Grundy again and it was fun. We did more pewter casting with our silhouette's and today we had to choose one of our silhouette's to make and Mr grundy had to check the silhouette. After that we made our choice's and my choice was some headphones because I liked the shape.

After thet we had to make a copy of his worksheet and put silhouette's on but not just any silhouette we used one of our family members or someone close to us and write down what they like the most. After writing what they like the most we use the silhouette of what they like.

Kiwi Can

For kiwi can we learned about having empathy. Empathy is to cheer people on is their not feeling well or encourage people, give some advice and have courtesy. Empathy means being understandable and being enthusiastic. Courtesy means being kind and respectful to others. Ways of being empathetic is showing an act of kindness with people. Ways of being Courteous are being respectful and helpful to others. The activity and energiser was changing places and role play. For the changing places we had gotten into a circle, mrs grace would call out things that we like or have done and we have to switch places in the circle as fast as possible. Our activity was called role play

Collaborative Summary

LI. To identify key words in a text and use these words to collaboratively summarise the events in the text.

Today for reading we made a summary about the treaty of waitangi. We had to make a DLO about our 20 words, then we had to chose our 6 important words and turn it into a summary with those six very important words.

To gain trust, the crown asked the Maori chiefs to sign Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Aotearoa. This treaty was meant to be an agreement that gave Maori protection. Then there was conflict over land sales and misunderstandings that took place. The maori also lost land through the native land court. Overtime politicians started to acknowledge this. Later Maori protested about how the government treated them.

Why plastic pollution is a problem for our coastlines

Did you know, each year over 1 million marine mammals are suffering due to the plastic we are wasting? This is not okay! These marine mammals have been suffering from plastic, whether they mistake plastic for food, or even get captured in it, which makes them not able to digest. Plastic has a large effect towards our marine mammals. Plastic is a large, serious issue in our environment! Would you like it if your favourite beach was filled with plastic?

According to ecotricity, scientists have estimated that about 8 million tonnes of plastic have ended up in our oceans every year. The number of plastic waste ending up in oceans could decrease up to a higher number, unless we do something about it! The majority of plastic that lies on the ground ends up in drains, which then leads to our oceans, lakes and rivers. There are New Zealanders out there who have access to facilities for plastic, but why aren’t we doing any better for our environment?

Did you know that plastic takes about 1,000 years just to biodegrade! Plastic doesn’t actually fully degrade, it only disintegrates into smaller particles. About 252,000 tons of plastic are also headed into our landfills every year. A project “Love Your Coast” is one of the projects that are acting now to help have a healthier and cleaner future. Love Your Coast has organised groups of people from around New Zealand to help clean up our oceans and beaches, so our next few generations could be better.

We should act now, so we could have a cleaner future and environment. You could save the lives of marine mammals, by picking up at least a few pieces of rubbish!

Cricket #1

Today for kiwi sport we learned about the who to bat and how to bowl. The bowling was a lot of fun because we had to throw the ball at the wickets to score a cone for our team. My team won the first round of bowling. When we got our water and took a rest we switched teams and did the batting. When I was the batter I scored 15 points.

Thinking Teams

Today in maths we worked in our thinking teams to find the awnser to two math questions. In the photo you will see our group, The Wizardly Addiction working out the number value of our group name. To do this we use addiction stratigies and our place value knowledge. In the second activity we worked as a group to put the population numbers in order. To do this we used our place value knowledge.
