Let me tell you about my favorite cultural celebration
Let me tell you about my favorite cultural celebration, Halloween October 31, 2019. Halloween is a
celebration that me and my family enjoy, We like halloween because samoans like scary things like
horror films, spooking people and eating candies. We also like to create papercraft, so we put all our
skills into making paper ghosts and to make homemade candys (Coconut candys).

horror films, spooking people and eating candies. We also like to create papercraft, so we put all our

Another reason is that we can eat as much candys as we want and we like arts crafts on scary stuff like
cardoard bats and halloween costumes to make it fun and funny, and sometimes we become a
superhero family, we have been the Justice leuage, The Avengers and even Spiderman characters
and it was really cool to make our own costumes and make scary ornaments. We also made Halloween
our favorite cultural celebration, is because of the movies we watch to face our fears and make us scarier
than before.

For Athletics Interschool I qualified for discus and the yr7's discus was at 1.15 pm and it was boring waiting at first until it was 1.15 and yr7's from other schools were there even my friends. I was third in line and excited and nervous but when it was my turn I threw it up far but when it was the other yr7's turn it didn't go well for me. The other yr7's threw it farther than I imagined. When it was done I check the score and I ended up being 6th place and it wasn't that bad.

Living a life as a shoe
Another day of going to school with Max. I feel so sore being worn everyday. When I was first out of the box I was excited but now I’ve ended up being old and broken. The toilet smells, I get gum on my soul and dirt all over me. I can’t take it anymore!! Finally the bell rings and I'm heading home. I see freedom as we proceeded to go home a big fluffy thing comes up to us and licks me. Phew! As soon as I get home after a stressful day, my arms are untied and I smell like meat. I always think to myself I really want him to get a new pair of shoes.

Kiwi Sport - Tennis
Today for kiwi sport we had our second lesson for kiwi sport our first lesson was about how to play and what tennis is. Our lesson today we learned how to volley and try not to make the ball bounce. We also learned the rules about how to do a volley. For most of the lesson I was the exaple on how to do these skills and it was fun doing it first try. When I versed my teacher in a volley we hit the ball 14 times without dropping it. When we finished tennis we needed to find a photo of ourselves and compare it to a pro tennis player

Why should become a good school leader
I'm going to tell you why I should become a good school leader. I should become a good school leader is because I can make people beleive to try their best, achieve goals and become something big.
If I were a school leader I would keep up on work and try my best and if I
make a mistake I would try again and do my best to get the question right
and if it's too difficult I would get someone to help me

Explanation: Should NZ ban plastic straws
Did you know that all plastic straws are harming sea animals? Well, in my opinion we should ban all plastic straws because they cause pollution and all this from plastic straws, Do we want to hurt these harmless animals?
One reason I think plastic straws should be banned is that they might damage sea animal's digestive system. 500 million plastic straws get thrown away helplessly and kill turtles and other sea life. Because of this, it kills over 100,000 marine life creatures in the sea just because of plastic straws.
My second reason for banning plastic straws is because it has chemicals in it and those chemicals are most likely to harm sea animals (marine life). Plastic straws also break down into microplastic (Small plastics) is also found on land and seagulls eat any kind of garbage and microplastic is one of them, if they eat it they are most likely to pass from there digestive system blockage or eating too much microplastic. All of this is letting us down and those poor little sea creatures eating your rubbish are dying so please don’t throw your rubbish away, This is horrible, this is unbelievable, This is OUTRAGEOUS you don't want that to happen right?
Well, plastic straws could be useful for a good drink without spilling it on you, it would be great if you would be able to water ski but it wouldn’t be ok if you water ski on dead fish. You would be dying to water ski or do anything in water but you can’t because you'll see floating fish EVERYWHERE
Animals are dying, I do not want that to happen and also people are way too lazy to think about life instead they just make things difficult and don’t pick up their plastic straws

Why you should drink drive
Hello I’m Jayden and I’m going to tell you why you should drink drive. Sometimes you need to enjoy yourself and if you had a drink you should be able to drive yourself home. What would you do if you couldn’t drive yourself home
My reason for saying drink driving is ok is because the police have other crimes to solve like break ins, searching for stolen cars or dangerous weapons. Police are just Confusing because they have other things to do but holding people up for a bretharise. Just because you had a drink doesn’t mean you will have a crash and you will be more calm instead of being an angry bird behind the wheel.
Have you ever been stuck in a checkpoint before? This wastes the polices time and everyone who was waiting. This only holds up people and causes traffic jams. Why not make it legal to drink and drive, then we wouldn’t have to waste time and money puting checkpoints in place.
Adults should have the choice of drink driving. It’s too expensive to catch a ride on a bus, taxi or an uber and in a taxi you have to pay 2.50 before you even go anywhere. This makes me angry, we are getting ripped off by these companies. Buses are always running late and you still have to get from the bus stop to home. I feel anxious walking around in the dark after I get off the bus. It is much better if I can just get in my car and drive, so what if we have a drink, a drink is just a drink.
Come on people really what’s the big deal about drink driving you should be able to enjoy yourself and follow your own rules in moderation.

Inference
For maths we used a strategy called Inference and this strategy is great to use and it's good for reading as well but the inference strategy is something where you use you old knowledge and you new knowledge altogether. Example: Jerry has 27 drawings and gave 3 each to his 8 friends. how many did his friend get. 27, 3, 8 27 isn't important so we got 3 and 8. 3 x 8 = 24.

Hiwi the kiwi
Did you know that people are letting the fish and the seagulls down by polluting the ocean with plastic. It’s bad for their health and they are all dying because of the pollution in the ocean. At Hiwi the Kiwi show we learned lots of lessons of fishing safety, plastic polluted oceans and other things but I chose 3 lessons I liked
Hiwi the kiwi taught us lessons about the kai moana (food from the sea) and we sang songs together. The three lessons I learned was when you catch the big or small fish you put them back into the ocean because if you catch small fish they have no chance to become bigger, and if you catch a big fish they don't get a chance to breed to make babies to make more fish
The second lesson I learned was to never throw plastic or the seagulls and other birds will mistake it for food. Some of the people checked in the seagull and saw plastic in it. This tells us we have to stop throwing our rubbish away because seagulls might mistake it for food.
The third lesson I learned was to use a wet towel when you catch a fish because if you don't you are peeling off the scales. Their scales are like sunscreen to us and if you peel the scales they will die, a bit like if you rub sunscreen off of you get sunburnt so always use a wet towel to pick up your fish or else there will be no more fish to eat.

For kiwi sport we learned ballet since Steve (our gymnastics teacher) wasn't there. We learned a lot of cool ballet skills and we even did a performance to show our skills in our learning. We also learned how to do the Black swan white swan which is a famous ballet show that is still going on. The music we had on was written by Tchaikovsky which was a classical type of music. How to take care of our environment
On earth we have lots of food sources and have a great environment … OR DO WE
HAVE A GOOD ENVIRONMENT??. We sometimes throw rubbish on the ground
and some of it goes in the ocean but now we have reusable plastic bags.
Instead of single-use(plastic bags). Plastic bags we have reusable plastic bags to keep our
stuff in it instead of throwing it away SO DON’T THROW IT AWAY.

We are harming the environment but throwing our rubbish everywhere. We have to
convince the people to throw the rubbish in the landfill not in the ocean. “Did you know
over 150 million single use plastic bags get thrown in the landfill and over 380 million
plastic bags end up in the ocean each year”

sometimes we don’t that doesn’t mean we should keep polluting I think we should pick
up all the rubbish around NZ to stop harming the sea animals in the ocean.

Math Vocabulary
activity.
It was made by Whaea Donna to help kids understand what some maths words meant.
Mrs Anderson asked us what a plane is. Everyone thought it was a flying vehicle but
because she was talking about the flat surface plane, all of us were wrong. This was a
really good way to show us that words might mean something different in maths. If we
didn't know a word. I would go on the explore tool to find out the meaning. Giovanni
would drag the ones into the box and the ones that Me and Jonathan didn't know into the
bottom section. Jonathan was helping Giovanni by dragging the words that go in the top
section. After we finished it all of us had a good understanding of most of the maths
words. Giovanni, Jonathan and I worked collaborativly together as a group to complete
this activity.

3D Shape
In Tech we learned about 3D shapes, Size and shadings. The most we learned is that a 3D shape is more fatter that a 2D shape and a 2D shape is more flatter than a 3D shape and the colour shadings on a 3D cube the top shade lightly in the front draw a little harder and the side do it your hardest but dont break your pencil.

Place Value Partitioning
This DLO show how I used the stratigy of place value partitioning to solve addition problems. During our maths lessons we practiced using this strategy with number and word question. When I was answering the word questions I had to look for the maths so I knew what numbers to work with. My screencastify shows the strategy I used. The more I used this strategy the more the easier it got.

Major Yuri Gagarin
This week for reading we used our creative skills to create an animation or
an explainer movie about Yuri Gagarin, in groups. My group and I decided
to create an animation. Before we created the animation, we planned it as
a group. On a piece of paper we drew a S to include the information we wan
ted about Yuri Gagarin from the start to the finish. A fact about Yuri Gagarin
is that he was the first cosmonaut to orbit Earth in Vostok 1. After planning
the animation, we started to create our animation. We chose a leader to tell
us our job of creating our animation. We all decided that Chavda was the rig
ht leader of our group. My group and I worked together as a team and help
ed each other to complete our animation. I think that everyone in my group
had great create skills and are really talented in drawing digitally.

Yuri's Diary by Jayden and Jonathan

Vostok 1 was starting to move and I felt nervous, scared and very excited to blast off into unknown. My chair was shaking. I heard over the radio, “ready for blast off!” I shouted back “YES SIR!” I really was proud to be a part of the Soviet Union.
I slowly opened my eyes that had been shut tight the whole way up and looked out of the window in front of me. I saw the clouds, oceans and land that made up earth. It was an incredible sight. I still can’t believe no one else has seen this picture!
The rockets boosters detached from the Vostok 1. Time for landing was getting closer,. It got intense and the rocket was falling down quickly. My job was to survive this mission so I had to pull the lever for the re-entry, also known as the escape lever. As my parachute opened I heard a soviet voice say “Hello are you there?” Our conversation went something like this:
“Hello?”
“Thank goodness!” This was followed by loud cheers as I was the first man to orbit the earth and return safely.
This week we read about Yuri Gagarin, the first man to orbit the earth. To show our understanding of the story Jonathan and I wrote Yuri Gagarin's diary entry for the 13th April 1961, the day after he survived the first manned mission to space.

World War 1 Transport
This week Marieta, Mele, Pua and I learnt about Life on the Transport Ship for World War 1. Together we all worked collaboratively to find information about the Transport Ship. In World War 1 there was a Transport Ship that took the enlisted people from New Zealand to Egypt ( which was there base ). I learnt that over 550 nurse died at war. It took about 6 weeks for the soldiers to get to Egypt. Each one of us received different roles to do. While Mele and Marieta were writing the 5 w's and H, Pua and I were finding images and information about the Soldiers. We added the source links for the sites and images we used. Each group was to present their shared DLO's, which showed others that we were gaining your researching skills.

Blog Post Data Analysis
For Maths we made a graph about how many blog posts we had over the years. For the first year I had my device it wasn't easy but I managed to make a few blog posts and then I got better at it over the years as I got more confident with my blogging. My goal is to have at least 500 posts by the end of this year. To achieve that goal I have to blog about 30.4 posts a month which means 7.6 posts a week to achieve it.

Presenting In school assembly
Last weeks assembly I was one of the student presenter's with Angela. I was quite nervous for a bit but I also felt very confident at the same time. Although, I was very scared that I might ruin our assembly. After that I just went up and did it. But at the end of assembly I messed up because I was too nervous. But people around me encouraged me and supported me the whole way. I am very greatful that Angela also helped me when I made a mistake. Over all I really enjoyed presenting last week!
